ABOUT: THE SEVEN STARS

This project came together during the winter of 2004 within a pole barn out in the blustering grey and brown fields of Muncie Indiana.  Ray Boltz (also a Muncie native, not to mention and a friend) invited me to come and play a show on a stage that he had constructed, and the stage stood amidst the generous storage space of his own arena lighting and scaffolding.  He pulled out all the stops while using towering pillars of speakers, state of the art cameras, and his own sound crew to record and mix the whole night of music.  He just asked that I provide my songs and the audience.  A little over a hundred in family and friends appeared, and it turned into an intimate night of performing and sharing in the warmth of a transformed space.

The DVD contains 13 songs, 8 of which are previously unreleased tracks.  The theme of the night has been dubbed “The Seven Stars” which is made reference to in the title track YHWH.  This song calls upon imagery and quotes from the book of Revelation, specifically that of the risen king in all of His glory, and the seven cycles of all purpose and time that will come to completion in the end.  He holds the seven stars in His right hand, and the keys to death and hell in the other, that he might release and bless whomever He chooses.  All has been paid for in blood.  My close friends Drew Billups, Jay Kirkpatrick, and Mark Guinn added the needed sound components not only within this song, but others also in a few others as we performed several collaborative pieces.  The finished product is a quality documentation of one moment in time, and it’s an unexpected gift that I am able to now share with others.  My heart is filled with gratitude to be shown such generosity and support.
